Guitar Books
Suzuki Guitar School
I have been personally teaching with the Suzuki repertoire for over 15 years, and enjoy its progression of etudes and Repertoire. The first few books work especially well with children and help create a strong musical foundation. By the last book, students are performing classical guitar classics such as Recuerdos de la Alhambra, Capricio Arabe, Variations on a Theme of Mozart, Op. 9, and Asturias (Leyenda) from Suite Espanol.
Royal Conservatory Series
Classical Guitar Repertoire and Etudes - The Royal Conservatory (RCM)
Another great method is The Royal Conservatory's guitar series, which contains a large repertoire for classical guitar students at all levels. Each progressive Repertoire and Etudes book covers a large range of historical periods and styles. This is a great method where students can jump around each book finding their favorite pieces and choose the music they will be playing.
Technique books
Pumping Nylon: The Classical Guitarist's Technique Handbook
In my opinion, the greatest classical guitar technique book ever created. Created by the amazing Scott Tennant this book has everything from fingernail shaping, Daily Warm-Up Routines, finger independence, speed exercises, tremolo as well Giuliani's 120 Right-Hand Studies, Tarrega arpeggio studies, and much more.
Kitharologus, The Path to Virtuosity: A Technical Workout Manual for All Guitarists
This technical workout manual is designed to help guitarists attain virtuosity, using well laid-out practice routines. While this book can be benefical to anyone playing guitar it is intended for those who are serious players with lots of time for practice.
